The Essentials You Need To Pack This Holiday Season

Some of us tend of leave packing off to the last minute, and those of us who don’t, tend to be extremely confused about all the things that we might need on the trip. With even the most meticulous planning, it’s very easy to forget a couple of things that then makes getting by on holidays, quite hard. If you relate, or are just looking to be reminded of all the things that need to be on your ‘To Pack’ checklist, read on.

1. Sunglasses

You can’t do without some protection for your eyes. Not only do sunglasses shield you from the sun’s glare, but they’re also stylish. Make sure your handbag has a pair of these when you pack.

2. Bags

Cloth bags are an absolute essential when you’re travelling just so you have tons of options to match your outfits with when you’re there. We love cloth bags and backpacks for this very reason. Roll them up and place them in your suitcase. Always carry an extra bag with you in case you decide to go berserk shopping on your vacation.

3. Sunscreen

This is an absolute skin essential. Whether you’re at a beach or in the snow (ice reflects radiation) dab on ample amounts of this on your skin 30 minutes before you leave the hotel.

4. Documents

You don’t want to miss out on important documents that you might need to produce some time during the week. Make sure you have your passport, visa, your tickets and boarding passes, as well as all your identity cards with you at all times.

5. Cards

Large amounts of cash isn’t a great idea when you’re travelling. What is a good idea though, is to have all your credit (or debit) cards in your wallet as well as any membership cards that might come in handy some time.

6. Electronics

Indispensable parts of our everyday lives, it would be quite the disaster if you forget to put in your phone, adapters and laptop chargers. If you love music and rely on it to spend those boring hours in a flight or a car ride, make sure to pack a music player or ear phones for listening to music on your phone. If you’re the avid reader, don’t forget your kindle and if you’re a photographer or plan to dabble in photography, make sure you carry a USB cable to transfer all your pictures and videos to your laptop or hard drive and save space.

7. Lots of Plastic Bags

Dirty laundry can be hard to accommodate in your bag and if you don’t compartmentalize, you’ll end up with stinky everything (yuck!). Carry lots of plastic bags for all your dirty clothes and undergarments for when your hotel doesn’t have great laundry service, or when it’s just too expensive.

8. Emergency Bag

Disasters are a regular occurrence with trips, and it’s always best to have all the tools you’d need to manage one. Make sure you have a small first aid kit, medicines, allergy pills, and of course tampons and sanitary napkins. Also make sure you have a sewing kit, and safety pins in case you have a wardrobe disaster (oops).
